Long time no see!
It has been a long time since touching my blogging keys. Something of a crisis in purpose, throw in a lack of free time and you have my state of blog inertia. Over many years I have been pondering on "what is art?". I don't think I am any closer to a definition but certainly the questioning is an interesting process. I am presently studying Art and Technology Curriculum as a component of my Bachelor of Education so have been able to visit the question in a more public sphere. Our first assignment is to produce teaching resources surrounding the Esplanart Project in Cairns foreshore. Also I was fortunate to visit the Indigenous Art Fair which is the opening item for Festival Cairns...
Kylie Burke's Adrift pays hommage to the mangrove. In Cairns, to preserve ocean views for holidaymakers, mangroves are removed regularly, despite the their key role in creating and protecting habitat.
